HEATING / FURNACES AND HEAT PUMPS

Heating and furnace service in Spring

Furnaces, heat pumps and radiant systems repaired, installed and maintained by a Carrier Factory Authorized dealer, with a 24-hour line for the cold night that always arrives without warning.

Chapter 01

The one cold week a heating system waits all year for

Winter in Spring and The Woodlands is short, which is exactly why a heating system can sit untouched for ten months and then be asked to do a whole season of work in a single week. The failures that follow rarely announce themselves early. They hide in the places a homeowner never looks: leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires and corroded electrical contacts that the naked eye may not notice until the first hard freeze puts the system under load.

When it does quit, call the line at (281) 651-7827. Heating repair at Red Star runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the same as cooling, because a furnace that fails at 2:00 AM does not care that the office opens at 7:00. Our own advice to customers is short: don't grab a tool to fix it yourself, grab your phone.

Raj Chaudhary, who had Red Star replace his furnace, put the visit this way in his Google review: “I replaced furnace and it's working fine. He came again after a week to see if everything working on expectations.” The follow-up visit is the part we would point to, because a replacement is only finished once it has run through a real cold snap.

Seven kinds of heat, and an honest way to choose one

Red Star installs furnaces (gas, oil and electric), split system heat pumps, ductless heat pumps, packaged heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, hybrid heat systems that pair a furnace with a heat pump, and radiant heating. Being a Carrier Factory Authorized dealer means the equipment, the parts and the factory support all come through the same channel, so an unusual fault can be escalated rather than guessed at.

Which one fits a house usually comes down to what the house already has. A home with sound ductwork and a furnace near the end of its life is often a straightforward swap. A home with no ducts is a natural candidate for a ductless heat pump. A home where a furnace alone struggles can look at a hybrid system, where the heat pump and the furnace share the work.

None of that is decided from the driveway. We start with guidance in matching the right system to your needs and with heating and cooling load calculations, because a system sized by guesswork is either working too hard or never reaching the temperature on the thermostat. Layout and design of the system come before the install date does, not after.

Chapter 03

Gas every other year, heat pumps every year

Maintenance intervals are not the same for every system. Heat pumps and air conditioners want a professional tune-up once a year, since a heat pump works through both the hot and the cold months. Gas-fired equipment runs at greater efficiency and only needs servicing every other year. Improper maintenance is, by Red Star's own account, the number one reason for emergency calls, which is why we push the tune-up so hard.

Red Star members get a 30-point heating inspection each fall and winter as one of two pre-paid annual tune-ups, scheduled by us rather than left to the homeowner to remember. The details of that plan are on the membership page, and the heating visit is the one that makes sure the furnace or heat pump is ready before the temperature drops.

Red Star publishes a three-year labor warranty and a ten-year parts warranty on its work, and the company completes more than 12,000 jobs a year. Whether the system on your wall is a decade old or brand new, the plan is the same: find the small failure while it is still small, and keep a technician one phone call away when it is not.

What we install, grouped the way a technician thinks about it

Furnaces

Gas, oil and electric furnaces, for homes with ductwork already in place.

Heat pumps

Split system, ductless, packaged and geothermal heat pumps, each matched to the house by load calculation.

Hybrid and radiant

Hybrid heat systems that combine a furnace and a heat pump, and radiant heating systems.

Heat is only half of the picture. See how we handle the other season on the AC repair page, or read what the two annual tune-ups include on the membership page.
