Carrier Factory Authorized, Spring, TX

Cooling, heating and cleaner air from one Carrier dealer.

Red Star has repaired, installed and maintained heating and air systems out of Pruitt Road in Spring since 2006. This is the full sheet: the three lines the company is built on, everything it will do for a house or a building, and the equipment it puts in.

Three lines of work, one phone number.

Cooling

Air conditioning, repaired when it quits and installed to last.

Residential AC repair, AC system installation and emergency AC service are the core of the company. When a system dies in the middle of the night, the emergency line answers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Red Star's own advice for that call is short: don't grab a tool to fix it yourself, grab your phone. Here is how an emergency call works.

Replacing a system starts with a heating and cooling load calculation, so the equipment is matched to the house. Every install carries a three year labor warranty and a ten year parts warranty. Read about AC repair and AC installation and replacement.

Heating

Furnaces and heat pumps, with the same night line in winter.

Heating repair, installation and preventative maintenance, with 24/7 emergency service when the cold snap arrives. Gas-fired equipment runs at greater efficiency and only needs servicing every other year; heat pumps and air conditioners want a tune-up once a year. See heating repair and installs for what goes in.

Indoor air quality

Filtration that does more than keep the ductwork clean.

A standard filter protects the system but does little for the air you breathe. A media filter, set between the main return duct and the blower cabinet, removes about seven times the dust and particles. Air purifiers and dehumidifiers cover the houses where that is still not enough, and duct cleaning, sealing and repair keeps the clean air moving. Indoor air quality in full.

Equipment Red Star installs

Every kind of system Red Star sells, named in full.

Cooling: split-system air conditioners, packaged AC and heating systems, terminal air conditioners, geothermal heat pumps, ductless AC systems, and residential and commercial AC systems.

Heating: furnaces (gas, oil and electric), split system heat pumps, ductless heat pumps, packaged heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, hybrid heat systems that pair a furnace with a heat pump, and radiant heating systems.

Which of those fits your house is a sizing question, not a sales one. Red Star runs the heating and cooling load calculation first and recommends from the result. Estimates are free.

Commercial HVAC

Buildings that cannot close because the air is out.

Commercial AC repair, replacement, maintenance and installation, with a technician on call 24/7. Red Star serves schools, hospitals, office buildings, shopping malls, factories, hotels and restaurants. A commercial maintenance visit covers heating and cooling tests, refrigerant level checks, cleaning and inspection of all heating and AC equipment, and a duct inspection.

Red Star Advantage membership

Two 30-point tune-ups a year, booked for you.

Members get a spring and summer AC inspection and a fall and winter heating inspection, up to 10% off parts and labor, front of the line scheduling for standard and emergency service, and extended warranties on parts and labor. Questions we hear on the phone

Straight answers before you book.

Yes. Emergency repairs run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for both cooling and heating. Our office hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at weekends, but a system that quits at 2:00 AM in August does not wait for opening time.

Heat pumps and air conditioners want a professional tune-up once a year. Gas-fired equipment runs at greater efficiency and only needs servicing every other year. Skipping it is the single most common reason we get called out on an emergency.

The cooling inspection checks the inside cooling coil where reachable, the primary and secondary drains, the outdoor condenser coil for cleanliness, operating pressures for the correct refrigerant charge, blower component adjustment, the AC cycle, voltage and amp draw on all motors, loose electrical connections, and the thermostat. The heating inspection is a matching 30-point run in the fall.

SEER2 measures how much cooling a system delivers per dollar of electricity. Ratings run from about 14 to 43, and higher is more efficient. The number on the Energy Guide is for the outdoor unit alone, while a real system is rated as a matched combination of outdoor and indoor equipment, so the figure your dealer quotes reflects what is actually going into your house.

We use a 50% rule of thumb. When the cost of a repair gets close to half the original value of the system, you are usually better off financially putting that money into a more efficient replacement. If you are calling for repeated repairs, that is the same signal.

A standard filter keeps the system and ductwork clean but does little for the air you breathe. A media filter sits between the main return duct and the blower cabinet and removes about seven times more dust and particles. Replace disposable filters at least monthly, and wash reusable ones on the same schedule.

It is $200 a year, or $15 a month for the first system. You get two pre-paid 30-point tune-ups, one for cooling and one for heating, up to 10% off parts and labor, priority scheduling for both standard and emergency calls, extended warranties on parts and labor, and we track and book the tune-ups for you.

Yes, Carrier Factory Authorized. That matters for two practical reasons: parts and current Carrier filters are only available through a Carrier dealer, and we can escalate an unusual fault through the Carrier distribution network rather than guessing at it.
